"Where I’m Bound" came out of a deep dive into the sounds of Blind Willie Johnson and the Carter Family. This song was inspired by Johnson’s "Trouble Will Soon Be Over" and the Carter Family’s "Can the Circle Be Unbroken."
There’s something stark and hauntingly
beautiful about it, and we wanted to channel that energy into this song. The harmonies and low bass notes give the song a gospel choir feel that we love.
Lyrics
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Sure won’t be lonely
Sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound,
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Going to see my mother
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Going to see my brother
Where I’m bound (where I’m bound)
Going to see my family
Sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound
Lord I’m bound (lord I’m bound)
To the land of angels
Lord I’m bound (lord I’m bound)
To find my rest
Lord I’m bound (lord I’m bound)
To find glory
Sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound
Cover me (cover me)
In the cold clay
Cover me (cover me)
In flowers sweet
Save your tears (save your tears)
for another
I sure won’t be lonely
Where I’m bound
